You forget they rent out these stadiums for other events. I haven't forgotten, but FIFA and Taylor Swift shows are occasional events, and most conventions and rock shows can be handled by cheaper/older venues.

Yes, about ten years ago they started having concerts at Fenway Park(1912). After the new owners remodeled the park. The biggest improvement was adding a lot more bathrooms. They will sell out multiple shows of 30K+ people. Pearl Jam played there instead of Foxboro. Fenway is in the Back Bay section of Boston. Where as Foxboro is 25 miles SW of the city. A train, bus or car ride.

Fenway is larger than Boston Garden(20K), but only half the size of Gillette(Foxboro 60K). I am sure when the Stones tour again they will come to Gillette. You have to be a pretty big act to sell out stadiums.
At least with Gillette there is more outside the stadium except parking lots. There is a whole outdoor mall with restaurants, bars, bowling ally, theater, plus the Patriots hall of fame. It is called Patriot Place. It is adjacent to the stadium. So, companies will have events there even when there is nothing going on inside the stadium.

I also think there is a NOVELTY as to why some acts prefer to play Fenway Park as opposed to a larger venue like Gillette.
Noah Kahn just played two or three sold out shows at Fenway.
Apparently he is currently the hottest act in North America.
One 30 year woman in my office flew to Toronto to see him in concert. As opposed to going to Fenway. Which is 15 miles from her house in the Boston suburbs.

How much did she spend on airfare, hotel, eating out, etc to go from Boston to Toronto. Plus the concert tickets.

I have personally never done that. Fly somewhere else to see a show. Although, people go to Vegas all the time to see someone at Caesars or now the Sphere. My daughter and Son in law occasionally fly to some city to see TOOL. When they have one of their concerts.

I do not even want to pay the money to see Andrea Bocelli at the Boston Garden because the cheap seats are $145 each. The good seats are $250-1000 each.
