"I wanted to share that I finished my first week at the NYC Administration for Children's Services as a Program Management and Sustainability Intern. I'm thrilled to be assisting supportive family programs in the Division of Prevention Services which aids 22,000+ families every year.

I am particularly thrilled to work for ACS because it works in the intersection of economic empowerment and public health, directly engaging with the community. I'm also proud to have achieved a goal I've had the last few years to support underserved communities by working for the government."

“a living wage” of $32 hourly

In NYC even that amount can barely be considered a “living wage”.

I don’t agree with the amount of wage she was demanding but the whole internship program is a grand example of “well to do”professions and businesses getting free labor. The argument that it equals needed experience is just an excuse for the firms using interns to be cheap busturds. A lower probationary wage makes more sense and might build employee loyalty.

nice house, but definitely would NOT be described anywhere around here as "palatial":

She couldn’t possibly live on $32 an hour. Heck even a bottom shelf Cosmo costs $16 a glass in NYC. Why did she lowball them?
