How old is your oldest running 4Runner?
I would guess a large number! With the increase in new car prices and the unwanted “enhancements” on newer models, many older folks opt for simpler times with mostly reliable cars that dont have heads up display or navigation or adaptive cruise control. I have a 26 year old Jaguar with 48K miles on it, and I finally had to sell my 2004 Acura with 286K miles because of an unacceptably high estimate to fix the multiple oil leaks from the engine. A mechanic bought the Acura, repaired it and is using it regularly! My newest car is a 2022 Jeep for long distance trips; it only has 31K miles on it!

2000 Tundra 4WD/2001 Camry here ...both still going strong ...and, yes, those are our only vehicles.
Incidentally, one of my favorite cars was a 2002 4 Runner bought on ebay in Tampa! She was a beauty, and was finally replaced by my 2022 Jeep.Tough, rugged and dependable!We were in Tanzania for a Safari early this year, and were delighted to see that most of the vehicles were Toyotas, of which many were 4Runners!
The recall goes up to some 2015 vehicles.
Lots of older vehicles are now sitting on used car dealer lots, to be sold to folks looking for cheap transportation.
Maybe to a kid for his first car.
Do used car dealers check VIN numbers for safety recalls?
Eh, who knows?

I am getting close with a 2010 and not in any rush to buy an overpriced underpowered over enhanced new POS. 76K miles, 6cyl 300+hp no turbo. At my age, my next vehicle will be a gurney.
Two 2005 Jetta TDI wagons.

2006 Hemi Durango. I might get buried in it.
Last actual Cars rolled off the line somewhere in 2012-1015 depending on manufacturer.
There is a reason older cars are worth significantly more then they should be.
I just sold a 97 camry for 3000 with 200k on it and my 91 wrangler sold for 4000 when I got it in 2021 for 2500.
my 2011 prius is worth easily 8000 around here, in rough exterior condition, but low miles.
my 2006 grand caravan with the 3.8 sells for more then a 2017 grand caravan, on average around here. only 105k on it, like the prius.(in san jose, ca)
I could get 10k to the right person for my passenger 2001 e350 with the 7.3 powerstroke with 340k on it. 8k is a good guess.
All of these cars have less BS on them then the newer ones, are overall cheaper to repair and significantly more reliable then the newer crap, especially the powerstroke.
Newer vehicles are designed solely to meet EPA regulations, harvest your data as long as possible, and send it home to be sold. Bonus to them if they manage to lock out small shops from doing anything with the computers, forcing repairs at dealers.
My Honda just passed 30 years old. Just had the brakes done. I drive vehicles until they can be driven no more. My Isuzu pickup finally died after 300k when the camshaft broke. I miss that truck.
My own car would have fell right in the middle of that recall, except it’s a GM vehicle. How does all this (huge) recall get paid for since it’s my understanding that by now Takata must be well past bankruptcy?
