It seems pretty legit. 5000+ audience reviews and they don’t seem like generated AI reviews, plus a few detractors.

I haven’t seen the film myself, but I think I’m going to give it a chance and go see it. Earlier I thought it would be unwatchable but now am not so sure

Rotten Tomatoes requires reviewers to both sign up, destroying anonymity, and submit proof of having attended the movie. So no, the reviews are not fake. They are heavily skewed toward cinephiles, and tend to approve of everything. Super Girl was recently at 60%.

The reviewers I trust say it is a pi@@ poor retelling of The Odyssey, and a confusing mess, with often unintelligible dialog, but visually stunning.

The Odyssey is famously nonlinear, and when Nolan applies his penchant for nonlinear story telling to it, the square cube law kicks in, and produces the sort of mess that many people consider sophisticated. Like women who pay hairdressers good money to make them look like they got of bed and rubbed balloons on their head to charge their hair with static electricity.

And apparently the rap music is a jarring, and awful, as was feared. Mel Books has written historical rap songs that fit his movies, but he is one of a kind.
