A 95-year-old pop culture icon is performing a heavy metal set at one of America's biggest rock festivals this September.
He'll have 35 musicians behind him. He's covering Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest. He calls the entire project "chaos with purpose." And he'd very much like you to take all of this seriously.
His name is William Shatner, and if you think this is a joke, you haven't been paying attention.

Over the years, I’ve grown to like Shatner. When I came home from Vietnam in September 1967, Star Trek was a big thing.
I never watched it because I thought their costumes were faggoty. I watched serious TV like Laugh In.

There is nothing more cringe than really old rockers still trying to pretend that they’re in their 30’s.

Yep the President of the United States would only go on Laugh-in and they had bikinis, Star Trek had neither.

tell me about it... I see local bands around Detroit who have been playing the same bar scenes for 30 years. some more than that... and they still act and dress the same way. Still trying to portray that “Cool” look... fkng stupid!! some even still sport mohawks at 60+ years old!!

Dear Lord! I love the guy, but at 95, he’d be better off covering a Billy Graham type crusade. He’s standing on the edge of eternity, for crying out loud!
