This isn’t critique, this is incessant whining. You can’t critique a movie until you see it. But when you devote as many column inches to whining about a movie that isn’t even out yet and you supposedly won’t see as a good critique by someone that’s actually seen it, you’re just performing.

Actually those videos are absolutely to the benefit of Hollywood. All press is good press. And part of the fun of them is laughing along with them, which means you also have to see the movie. Heck I only watch CinemaSins of movies I’ve seen, and mostly of movies I like, it’s fun to take a humorous critical eye to a movie I enjoy. It’s part of the fun. They had a cottage industry of poking at Oppenheimer too. Didn’t hurt the box office.

You can’t critique a movie until you see it.

Yes, you can. You don't seem to be up-to-date on the current goings-on in pop culture world. There have been so many trailers, clips, and behind-the-scenes releases of this movie that one could probably piece together the whole movie with clever editing software. In addition, the people involved in the movie, actors, actresses, the director, the publicists, etc, all are congenitally unable to keep their mouths shut. Nyong'o is a good example. This provides quite a bit of fodder for the Youtube armies.

All press is good press.

I'd like to welcome you to the 21st century. You might find that things that were true in the 20th century no longer apply. I'll point to the latest incarnations of "Snow White" and "Supergirl" as examples.

Now, if Nolan's Odyssey is truly a well-made movie, it will probably do well regardless of all the controversy. But everything about this movie screams that it isn't and, once again, enough of it has been released so that people can see the disaster looming on the horizon. The movie has chosen to use modern vernacular. The movie has chosen to race swap and sex swap. The movie even looks like crap, from a cinematography perspective (although a lot of movies these days fall into this category). The movie is based on a FEMINIST RE-IMAGINING OF THE ODYSSEY.

Can you imagine the groans of any audience while a 4'11" "trans-man" delivers the lines of a masculine warrior? Or the laughter when straight-faced male characters declare a plain black woman to be the most beautiful Greek woman who ever lived? Hell, they at least could have gotten Halle Berry. This movie will most likely be the biggest collective joke in popular culture, all while receiving all of the Hollywood accolades possible.
