Yes, version. But it was awsome live. MLB is doing a great job honoring America tonight.

AL continues to dominate with a 4-0 final. NL manages a pathetic three hits.

Yeah, worst performance by an All Star Game Team I’ve ever seen.

Zero energy. They should cancel the All-Star game. Keep the home run ceremony. Replace the game with a ceremony honoring the All-Stars.

“They should cancel the All-Star game.’
Yep. Interleague play took away the whole point of the All-Star game. Watered down the World Series too.

Yeah I agree. I miss the days of AL NL East West. You had to be first in your division and a ALCS NLCS and then World Series. Then over. Good times. The game sucks now.

This was the fifth MLB All Star Game played in Philadelphia.
The 11th ASG was hosted by the Philadelphia Athletics at Shibe Park in 1943, which was the first ASG played at night under lights. The AL won 5-3. Nine years later, the Phillies hosted the 19th ASG in 1952 (the 1945 ASG was cancelled due to war time travel restrictions) at Shibe Park in the only rain shortened ASG. Bobby Shantz of the Philadelphia Athletics struck out the side in the bottom of the 5th inning before the game was called due to rain. The NL won 3-2. During the bicentennial year of 1976, Philadelphia again hosted the 47th ASG at Veterans Stadium, and the NL won 7-1. The 67th ASG was also played at Veterans Stadium in 1996, and the NL won 6-0. Yesterday’s 96th ASG was the second win for the American League in Philly.

National Anthem and the Navy flyover into the Park was awesome!
Patti LaBelle didn't screech singing the national anthem, which she usually does. She just couldn't sing the las.t word "brave" while demonstrating her vocal range. The flyover was awesome, as were the Army parachute team. The fireworks were incredible. I was there. It was quite a show.

Baseball is played out over a long 162 game season, and the depth of pitching matters. The best team doesn't always win a short series when a team can rely on only three starting pitchers due to the frequent off days to maximize TV revenue on the weekends. The world series had been as long as a 9 game series for this reason. The present wild card format cheapens winning the world series while increasing MLB's television revenue. There is a tradeoff involved, often called worshiping the almighty dollar.

What was that Ray Charles performance just now? Was it a vid? It’s kind of freaking me and hubby out. Google is no help, so turning to you guys! Ray Charles has been dead since 2004. Seeing the kids ride their bikes on to the field and interacting with the MLB All Stars was awesome. One kid was playing catch in the infield between first and second base. Another was showing his swing to Mike Trout. All of this done while fireworks went off around the ball park. Baseball is a kids' game. Some just get to play it longer than others.

The rule doesn’t apply in postseason.
This is an international play rule similar to 3-on-3 hockey for overtime.
In Asia, once you put the man on second you have two (Korea) or three (Japan, Taiwan) innings to play. Once you play 11 or 12 innings, that’s a tie game, and it doesn’t count towards the standings, so ties help in a way. A team that goes 1-0-134 in a 135 game season in Japan has a 1.000 percentage. In Japan, the rule is runners on first and second in the 13th inning of Game 8 of the championship series.
Even the high school tournament (Koshien) now puts runners at first and second in the 10th inning of the elimination tournament. The object now is to play small ball in order to win the game, not slug it out. Put a few shallow fly outs, get a K, and you can bunt and sac-fly to win the game.
Tiebreakers are used in international baseball and softball.
