The 16th ranked team in the world got knocked out in the round of 16. It’s not exactly a surprise. Yeah the distraction probably didn’t help. But this was the projection. They played up to expectations. Which honestly isn’t terrible.

Same game. Same teams in 2014. We did better back then. We had a great goalie. But the team was not that good. They played 110%.

Obviously, that was not the case this time even though we are probably more talented (except for the goalie). But we had no heart in the game.

Well “same teams” in that the countries are the same. 12 years is a long time when it comes to roster churn. And the US still lost in the round of 16 to Belgium, it just took extra time.
