SCREEN BLANKING OUT is a common problem, not just with Mercedes. GM, FORD, TOYOTA and others have all had the same problem.
It’s apparently the TOUCHSCREENS themselves can’t take the heat and vibration of normal everyday driving.
Designers love them because they can eliminate knobs and switches and dashboards can be reduced to one component and a bunch of cables. And assembly line installation is fast and easy.
A certain car I was looking to buy recently had a screen that went all the way from one side of the dash to the other with no mechanical controls at all.
They will have to come up with a more heavy duty touchscreen to solve this problem, but that makes them more expensive................
That's a feature, not a bug. Profit in out of warranty replacements, not in new vehicle sales.
and I know for a fact that they never will.

Yep - I hate the touchscreens - the one thing I liked about the Mercedes cars is that they had the
“mouse”-like control so you could, with your hand comfortably on the console, move and click on items w/o having to reach over to the screen and try to hit the right spot.- also kept fingerprints off the screen. I know a lot of the screens have issues, but my point was that Mercedes denied there was an issue - until the warranty lapsed, then they’d gladly charge you an arm/leg/first child to fix it. You expect more from what is considered a ‘premium’ brand of car - even low-mid level models.
And you are spot on about costs of service/repair - they charge more than twice what the Toyota costs for a full service - even the cabin filter is put in so it takes over an hour to take things apart to get to it.
