I don’t think the author is correct.
Bats aren’t stupid. They are also not blind.
And I’m pretty sure they have a built-in compass as most animals do, to find their way home.
Bat’s radar is for finding prey, not finding their home.........
It is obviously not true if you think about it.
If bats could not fly with a bird in their mouth they would not capture birds.
If it were true the bats only option after capturing a bird would be to drop to the ground and eat the bird where they captured it.
Not a great survival strategy for a small mammal that can barely walk.
This author may need to find other employment. Science writing does not seem to be a good fit for him.
