Any other stadium would have been better? The 1994 final was held at the Rose Bowl.
Haaland, since he was born in England, could have played for England if he wanted to.
What’s interesting is 7 of the 8 teams are all close to each other.
England and Norway are only separated by The North Sea, and England is across the English Channel from France.
And France borders 3 other of the nations: Belgium, Switzerland and Spain.
Spain is only separated from Morocco by about 30 miles of the Strait of Gibraltar.
Every other stadium would’ve been better- from Jerry’s World, to Sofi, to Gillette stadium, to the one in Seattle and on and on and on....
Have you ever been to Metlife?? Its pure garbage- typical of the NYC/NJ area; $1.6 billion for sheet...
Morocco … last MUSLIM TEAM right ? … wait, is England still in (/s)
I figure for the time zones in Europe the final had to be on the East Coast, so the start time would be Prime Time in Europe.
Argentina is the outlier. If your skipping across water however Argentina is sort of adjacent too. Albeit it would take an awful lot of skipping. Only Switzerland is landlocked. I’ve visited the UK, France, Belgium and Switzerland which I would say is the nicest but also the most expensive.
Well there are plenty of eastern time zone stadia. The 3rd place game is going to be in Miami.
What sucks about Switzerland is you need a separate adapter plug.
It’s been quite a while ago now but I think the closest was a drive by for me and just a quick glance at it from the highway.
Apart from the politics and the muzzle coach, Egypt was VARobbed!
there’s no reason to go to that place....it is in no way an upgrade over the former venue, Giants Stadium...

Digging that Swiss coach....
Ok....well I doubt it’s gonna change so the final is stuck there unless some disaster strikes.
YES, me too.
.................VS................
For 8 college football teams in the U.S., 100K fans in the stadium is a normal home game. But for virtually all of the World Cup soccer players, it would have been a once in a lifetime experience.
Just a guess but maybe for the games like the final it would be but if they didn’t sell out 50k in a 100k stadium would not be the same as a sold out 50k stadium.
Hard to imagine them not selling out a 100K seat stadium. Maybe they’re afraid of having 100K of...a certain caliber of people who like soccer...all gathered into one place. LOL
Yeah who knows. If we’ve learned one thing here at FR is that experts are very often wrong.
