when I was in turkey, the people were delighted to see Americans. especially an american woman without a veil.

I will say, the Turkish soap operas are pretty good, and the women are gorgeous.

When, aprox. were you in Turkey? Was it many decades ago?
It’s nice that you were treated with kindness.
I’m wondering if this would still be possible under a leader like Erdogan. He seems eager to invite conflict in a cultural sense. While in the Navy, I spent a very short amount of time in Izmir, Turkey. I found the bazaars and markets fascinating and I had no problem with the citizens either. This was around 1981.
