The final sketch of Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness’s second episode, like many of the HBO historical comedy series’ sketches so far, featured some big deal guest stars alongside Larry David, as well as some of the show’s most direct political commentary to date. It most notably featured Rob Reiner as George Washington, one of his few posthumous performances following his tragic death in December 2025.
In the sketch from “Farewell,” Washington is wrapping up his second term as President with the announcement that he will not be seeking a third (term) — a decision explained in his farewell address, which also included his strong opinion that political parties were bad for the country because they might “become potent engines by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government.”
Narrator Samuel L. Jackson, in his introduction, puts some extra mustard on the “cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men” bit, and things get much less subtle from there. As Washington explains his decision to step down, he and a crowd member played by David start debating the possibility of a “narcissistic prick” of a future president, who might violate the Constitution and enrich his own interests thanks to a broken system of checks and balances.
The January 6th insurrection, the killings of Renée Good and Alex Pretti, and efforts by this current administration to censor dissent are all referenced in the ensuing debate, with Jimmy Kimmel popping up as another crowd member to drive the point home. “Are you suggesting that the president would taketh the time to challenge anyone who dare make fun of him, as if he were a big baby?” he says in his tricorner hat. “I don’t see it.”

One can appreciate the wisdom of NBC television executives who kept the foul mouthed Larry David in the background of the long running "Seinfeld" television series rather than featuring him in a leading on camera role.
This is not right. This is true mental illness.
They hate Trump and cannot form a coherent justification for their craziness.
That Rob Reiner wanted this to be the last thing people would remember him by is honestly pretty sad.
Trump is still here and ironically Reiner isn’t.
What’s truly sad is being stabbed to death by your own son. He obviously gave that twirp everything but love.
Even in death he’s still a Meathead.
Rob Reiner and his wife were murdered by their drug addicted son. The author of the article euphemistically referred to this crime as a tragedy. Nick Reiner had been in and out of rehab programs constantly. He should have been in prison.
Jackson will never forgive this racist country for oppressing him, keeping him down and denying him fame and fortune because of the color of his skin.
May he RIP, but I seriously hoped we were done with that guy!

The Meathead wasn’t something I cared much about, I guess.
They have hated every Republican President from Nixon on. As well as Speaker Newt. They hated him, too.

They also hate every voter who cast a Republican ballot. Elections only count when their candidates win or steal the contests.
This episode segment really hammered home the point that the Left despises those of us who vote opposite their preferences. David, Kimmel, and the late Reiner all suffered from TDS.
He’ll always be remembered to me as “Meathead”.
Meathead’s death was not tragic. It was poetic.
Same here. In “All in the Family”, I was sympathetic Archie due to the diatribes/lectures from Meathead. If Meathead was so outraged by Archie’s attitude, he should have gotten his butt out the door and got a job and lived independently with wife Gloria instead of sponging off FIL and expecting his wife to bring in the $$$.
