I would argue that without Patrick Henry's speech in 1775 there very well might not be a Declaration of Independence.
While Massachusetts was engaged in war, the other center of power, Virginia, was heavily Loyalist. That is, until Patrick Henry's speech galvanized Virginia and brought her into the fight.
I had taken a nine-month course in US Constitution and one of our instructors (a former US Congressman from CO), recited Patrick Henry's speech for our entire class. By the end we all rose and cheered, ready to fight us some Redcoats!
