SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — A 31-year-old woman died after she was attacked by an alligator while swimming in a Seminole County river.
The woman, whose name has not been released, was swimming with friends in the Little Econ River on June 28 when the gator attacked, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said.
The woman was taken to an area hospital, where she died, WFTV reported.
This was the third gator attack in Central Florida within the past week.
A gator bit a child in Marion County on June 27, while an alligator bit a snorkeler in the Rainbow River on June 21.
There have been more than 500 alligator attacks with 33 deaths since 1948, when the state started tracking attacks, WFTV reported.

The beauty of the Rainbow River is you can see the gator coming to get you from quite the distance!!
Seriously, it is beautiful there. I am looking at houses around the river all the time. The downside is the town is kind of beat.
Too bad you’re thick skulled and have no idea what you’re talking about. Manatees are DECIMATING the sea grass that fish lay eggs in. The fish population is dwindling. There are no bait fish. The eco system is being crushed by them.
Nice try though.
That’s old Florida for you. It is better than high rises everywhere but some areas do need some urban renewal. Hurricanes sometimes take care of that.
Well I guess we’re all gonna die then. 😂
Provide hard data on that or you’re pulling it outta your ahole......never heard that ever.
look it up yourself
Yeah, that’s what I thought.
I doubt your even IN Florida
little do you know...........across the board
That’s what you get from college graduates nowadays.
This is my neck o’ the woods.
I do not swim in lakes or rivers. Rather, if I need to do laps, I’m heading out to the NTC at Clermont when they have long course days. Or — I work at a local highschool that has a gorgeous competition pool. I’m seriously contemplating doing the early early morning swimming when the semester starts up again. I just need to bring my grown up clothes and shower up in the ESE bathroom.
I knew there was something off in that headline but didn’t pay attention. You’re exactly correct. Bad grammar is now the norm.

This is a sign posted along the side of at least one section of the Little Econ River. Maybe she thought it was a picture of a dog.
It is unbelievable any one would swim in a fresh water body of water in Fl. Gators are made to do two things: keep some species of animals in check by eating whatever they want and make little gators.
It is time to create a gator court and when found guilty of a crime the gator is either sent to a zoo or processed for meat and hide, such depending on the crime.
“There are no bait fish”.
.
A tenant of mine keeps fish traps in shallow Florida Keys waters, collects “pinfish” and transports them for sale in SW Florida seaports.
“Florida woman killed after alligator attack”
What a bad day. To be attacked by a gator and THEN killed sometime later.
I read the article, but urinalism? The headline is UNCLEAR!
I expected that maybe after being attacked by the gator she then wandered out into the highway and was struck by a car, killing her. Or a million other scenarios because of the poorly worded headline.
Gators gonna gate.
What about pit bulls?
I cannot imagine the force of a large alligator.
