The Trump Mobile T1 Phone appears to be available for outright purchase for the first time, after the pre-order notice was removed from the company’s website. The $499 handset is essentially a repainted HTC U24 Pro from 2024, and it follows a long stretch of delays, an FTC inquiry, and reports that the device is only assembled, not built, in the US.
Ever since Trump Mobile announced the T1 phone last year, the handset has been on pre-order status. But if you were thinking about getting your hands on it, it looks like the Trump Mobile T1 Phone is now available outright.
According to the listing https://enroll.trumpmobile.com/device-detail/Ml8x on the Trump Mobile website, the T1 Phone is now available for purchase. It claims that it is enjoying a promotional price of $499. So, if you were thinking of cashing in on this deal, now’s the time to do so. However, you should be aware of what you’re buying.
While the exterior of the phone sports a gold paint job and has the Trump Mobile branding on its back, a recent iFixit teardown revealed that the phone is basically a repainted version of the HTC U24 Pro. For context, the HTC U24 Pro was released in 2024, so you’d be buying a phone released in 2026 that uses tech from 2 years ago for nearly $500.
At that price, honestly, there are a lot of better and more modern options. In fact, the recently announced Samsung Galaxy A27 5G could be a great choice. Not only is it cheaper, but smartphone tech has come a long way in those couple of years where you should be able to get a similar, if not better, experience. But hey, that’s entirely your choice.
For those wondering, the Trump Mobile T1 Phone’s availability is actually kind of a big deal. You see, ever since the company announced the phone, it took them way longer than anyone expected to get the phone to market. It got to the point where some were wondering if this phone was simply vaporware. Some lawmakers even pushed for the FTC to investigate.
Trump Mobile had also initially made bold claims that the phone would be built in the US. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Instead, the phone is only being assembled stateside. That being said, if we take politics out of the equation, it’s not the worst phone we’ve seen. Is it worth $499? Like we said, there are plenty of other options at that price point.
