These things are revenue generators, nothing more.
The city or county doesn’t actually own the equipment. They are supplied the cameras and imaging software by the company that makes them. The fines are split with the company, probably 60/40, I don’t know. But every little town around either has them or is getting them. They make money for them to spend like crazy!..........
We had ‘em here but the city didn’t renew the contract.
