Parts of Honolulu aren’t exactly paradise anymore either.
When I stayed on Waikiki Beach about ten years back I was warned not to go into the park at the end of the beach.
That there were hundreds of homeless people living in that park.
Later in the same trip we were on the Big Island. We took a drive over to Hilo. There were a fair amount of homeless there too.
I guess IF you were homeless, Hawaii beats the heck out of Detroit in the winter.
If you want to live on a beach, Californy is the place you ought to be, so load up the tent and move to Beverly.
Hills, that is. Vagrants, bums, and drugged out movie stars.
