Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier is speaking on Tuesday about alleged religious discrimination in professional sports, this time directing his attention toward Major League Baseball following reports involving San Francisco Giants pitchers.
In a post on X, Uthmeier questioned the league directly, writing:
"Do you practice religious discrimination in Florida, @MLB? You’ll be hearing from my office soon.”
The remark came after Sports Illustrated reported that three Giants pitchers were warned by MLB after wearing Bible verses on their caps during a recent Pride Night game.
The warning, while not fully detailed by the league, has sparked a broader debate about how professional sports organizations balance inclusivity initiatives with players’ individual expressions of faith. Pride Night events across MLB are designed to celebrate LGBTQ+ communities, but tensions have occasionally arisen when players express differing personal or religious views.
Uthmeier’s response signals the possibility of further scrutiny from his office, continuing a pattern of legal challenges and inquiries into major sports leagues operating in Florida.

Baseball is the least standardized of all the professional sports. Long pants, short pants, T-shirt, no T-shirt, long sleeves, short sleeves, custom cleats, jewelry hanging off of everywhere... I could go on. What's a bible verse with all that nonsense going on?
“Uniforms are anything but uniform.”
Here’s a poser? During the war for Independence about 3% of the men actually took up arms and fought for freedom. Their clothes didn’t match in most cases. They had different churchs, but all prayed to the Same God. Were patriots there a religion? They didn’t stand at Valley Forge and swear allegiance to the Methodist or Catholic Church, they swore an oath to God, each other, and the USA.
Religion to me is not fealty to the pope. It’s faith in God and the USA.
If the MLB alters the uniform for one game during the month (”Pride” Night), then that rule is already broken and the players have every right to FURTHER personalize their own uniform.
🤛
I hope you are being facetious...Do you believe homosexual beliefs/practices are comparable to believing in and following Christian principles? MLB apparently does.
AND I’m missing the Giants/Braves game - is raining at the park...
“”All those Latino players making the Sign of the Cross every at bat are now in trouble.””
GOOD one....how many do you think actually practice what they so automatically do on the ball field after hits/runs etc? ROTE!
I didn’t think you could explain what religion is. I’d bet you can’t explain what you just posted. Bye
During the shortened 2020 season, MLB allowed players to display certain social-justice messages, including “Black Lives Matter” (BLM) and “United for Change,” on their uniforms. The policy was adopted after discussions among MLB, the MLB Players Association, and player groups.
Specifically, MLB allowed:
Sleeve patches reading “Black Lives Matter” or “United for Change” on Opening Day (and in some cases during Opening Weekend).
BLM-themed batting-practice shirts.
Wristbands featuring a modified MLB logo with a black silhouette of the batter.
Teams to stencil “BLM” or “United for Change” on the back of the pitcher’s mound during Opening Weekend.
Many players and teams participated, while others chose not to. MLB’s approach was generally to make participation voluntary rather than mandatory.
It’s worth noting that MLB did not go as far as the NBA, which allowed a broader list of social-justice slogans on the backs of jerseys. MLB’s approved uniform messages in 2020 were much more limited.
Yup. Feels like we’re living in Truman Show. I want to get off this set
(The issue is that MLB is going to fine players for not supporting LGBT. And penalizing them for their beliefs.
Florida is accusing MLB of religious persecution for fining players for not following the woke policies. And being Christian.)

Thank you, Attorney General James Uthmeier! Thanks very much!!

No he doesn't.
MLB needs to talk with Disney about getting too cute with their drag queens. Governor DeSantis took Disney to the woodshed. After the governor appointed a new board to the Reedy Creek Improvement District Disney learned how to say yes sir, at least in Florida.
