The New York Knicks are NBA champions.
In a Game 5 of the NBA Finals Saturday night that looked much like the previous four, the San Antonio Spurs took a double-digit lead in the first quarter.
But like in three of the previous four games, the Knicks rallied — this time from a 16-point deficit — to secure a 94-90 Game 5 win and a 4-1 series victory in the NBA Finals.
Jalen Brunson led the way with a legacy-securing 45-point effort as New York’s only reliable source of offense on a night in which both teams struggled from the field. But for New York, the win didn’t have to be pretty. The result is the franchise’s first NBA championship since 1973. And Brunson has secured his place among New York’s sporting greats.

Brunson was outstanding...45 points and only committed 1 foul.. Hes def the leader.
Not everything is politics! This is wonderful!
Now we can focus on the Stanley Cup Finals.
that league is a mess...season is wayyyy too long, plus alot of other things.
Red Holtzman, who coached the 1970 & 1973 Knicks champions, won 613 games. The Knicks won the title tonight on 6/13.
I guess Brunson “spurred” them to victory.
It would have been his 4th flagrant of the playoffs which would have resulted in an automatic 1 game suspension.
The clod that is the backup to Wemby having to play a significant number of minutes would have been a train wreck.
Compare it to when the Warrior won in 2015. Steph Curry was the best player on the team, but Andre Iguodala won the MVP for clamping down on LeBron James.
City on fire yet?
Que the riots in NYC...
My first thought as well.
Team Barn ball at it’s finest. Controlled chaos.
+ For Knicks. 🦅
I don’t hate New York City. I hate New York City liberals!
✅
I thought Bogut was the key to the 2015 warriors winning the championhip. He brought bruising physicality to both sides of the court.
Sportsball is my favorite, did Michael Jordan score lots of points?
That team was created by Mark Jackson, and it was created to be a very unselfish team that passed a lot and had advanced teamwork.
They showed Bill Bradley at one of the games. I think he's 82. He looks it too.
as a democrat, he was worried all these years about how the world was gonna end.
Who cares about politics. Happy for New York and for genuine fans being happy:
