How the 'New' Socialism Falls Apart

There is certainly a new flavor of socialism emerging amongst the younger generation. The updated addition to the socialist dogma is tinged with what is called the Me-First perspective, the current rallying cry for a new batch of socialists attempting to upset the economic apple cart. This latest flavor is not too far from the traditional utopian idea that socialism could work somehow if all that is tweaked are price controls, the elimination of private ownership, slowing down market forces, and stifling entrepreneurial incentive and motivation. In other words, the new age socialists' prevailing cry for a socialist fix to the economy is to upset the apple cart for their own subsidization and effectively taxing everyone else. Put another way, it is about satisfying their wants using your means. Why do they use capitalist means of production to establish a socialist economy? Why doesn’t the new age socialist have a socialist means of production?

The problem with the Gen Z new age socialist frame of thought is that they have no means of production of their own. Put plainly, there are no such things as socialist means of production or economic market tools; if so, what are they? To Gen Z, putting private property in someone else's hands and tweaking the economy to their benefit sounds workable, but the basic reality is very scary: they are under the impression that a socialist economy will solve their problems, and everyone else's for that matter, because in their minds all you have to do is control prices, increase minimums, put a cap on this, overtax the other, overregulate this and that, confiscate wealth, and so on. Yet here is the red pill: the previously listed points are capitalist means of production for a market economy

I think it was William F. Buckley who described socialism as dollars crisscrossing in the sky.

Most Socialist countries employ a hideous thing called a VAT Tax,

What a Value Added Tax (VAT), does is to tax things at their various stages of development.

Take for instance, a PC chassis made of Steel (a good one).

First the iron ore is taken from the earth and melted into bars of Iron. Most socialist countries then would tax the newly made bars of iron. But Wait.

Iron has to be heated, compressed, and quenched, turning it into Steel. Again, employing the VAT tax, they can then tax the newly made sheets of Steel.

Then, the sheets are cut, holes threaded for the parts to be installed. It has no power supply, wires yet, LEDs for blinking or any such thing. Yet again, value has been added. So guess what, time for another VAT.

The chassis, gets a power supply, wires, motherboard and all the parts necessary for a Gamer who buys the PC, and guess what, pays a VAT tax in that Socialist country.

Now, you would think that a Socialist Country that they would VAT tax any foreign vistors. But wait, the other socialist countries may not value each addition the same way. So, their overall vat tax may be less. And the PC, costing more where they visit, the visitor may not be inclined to pay the higher price.

So what do they do? Well, in most Socialist Countries where a VAT tax is deployed, is to Allow Foriegn visitors to be exempt from the VAT in the visited country. All, they have to do is visit a VAT desk at a travel port and show the reciept.

Instant payback.

But wait. Can't the folks in the visited country do the same with a different VAT deploying country. Well, yeah, but maybe not if your in the EU and visit another EU country?

Ha ha, usually there is a trap/catch for those who try to evade this hideous tax.

Of, course there are other hideous Socialist Practices. Maybe some of you might be willing to mention some?

I'm going back to bed.
