Even the Amish now allow telephones on their properties,
//////
on my grandfather’s farm in central Pennsylvania, a phone was set up in the milkshed so the amish could come by and make phone calls.
not sure that has changed. have you seen amish make phone calls on their own property?
They sometimes have phones in outbuildings on their farms.
A misconception is that the Amish are against all modern technology on principle; but except for the very strict orders, they generally are not. They analyze each technology for the negative impact it may have on their faith and family lives. For many, a phone in an outbuilding instead of in the house is an acceptable compromise; just as riding in someone’s car can be acceptable, but owning one’s own may not be.
