Over the years, I’ve found three gold items on the beach. Two chains and a nice ring.

An additional 32 spirals of various sizes were also in the hoard. Rather than jewelry, these spirals were likely a form of currency in the Middle Bronze Age

It makes sense in that in when making a transaction the buyer can pinch off the appropriate part of a coil of gold and hand it over to the seller.
