From Copilot:

Yes — The Black Crowes were kicked off the ZZ Top tour, but NOT for spitting on crowds.
The real reason was Chris Robinson’s on‑stage comments criticizing corporate sponsorship, especially Miller Beer, which was sponsoring ZZ Top’s 1991 tour.

According to multiple contemporary sources, including Ultimate Classic Rock and Rolling Stone:

• The Black Crowes were fired only a few dates into the 1991 ZZ Top tour
They were dismissed on March 25, 1991, during a scheduled three‑night stand in Atlanta.

• The issue was Chris Robinson’s anti‑corporate comments on stage

He repeatedly told audiences that their set was “live rock ’n’ roll… commercial‑free,” which Miller Brewing (the tour sponsor) saw as a direct insult.

• ZZ Top’s management (Bill Ham) removed them after pressure from the sponsor
Miller threatened to pull sponsorship money unless the Crowes were dropped.
