When I was ten, we left the mean streets of Milwaukee and moved to Sun Prairie, the Sweet Corn Capitol of the World! Also home to Jimmy the Groundhog.
Our Corn Fest in August was always so much fun. I don't think I missed a single one growing up.
When my Mom re-married, her husband was 'Colonel Corn' their mascot. He did that for 21 years. He was also the local Santa Claus and Mom was Mrs. Claus. She and her BFF made his costume and the Santa costumes, too.

Tooo cute!
Our local orchard, about 2 miles from our home, not only grows apples, but now corn, strawberries, a multitude of other vegetables (green beans, potatoes of all kinds, zucchini, etc). So right now is strawberry picking time, soon to be followed by raspberries. July they have a corn festival. Then there’s a Sunflower festival in August, and Apple festival in September.
All are a lot of fun for kids and grownups alike.
