Your response completely misses the point of historical precedent and relies on emotional deflections rather than historical or economic data.
You claim I’m ‘equivocating’ Dutch displacement with modern white demographics, but you are misunderstanding the historical comparison.
In the 1830s and 1840s, Anglo-Americans legitimately believed they were being ‘displaced’ culturally and politically by the influx of non-Anglo groups—specifically Germans and the Dutch.
In fact, Martin Van Buren (elected in 1836) was the first and only U.S. president whose first language was not English; he grew up speaking Dutch.
To the Anglo establishment of the time, having a non-English speaker in the White House felt exactly like a cultural ‘takeover.’
The point is that every generation of Americans fears they are being ‘displaced’ by the next wave of immigrants, only for those immigrants to assimilate.
You want to keep the West ‘majority white,’ but you are ignoring the fact that the definition of ‘white’ has continuously changed. Ben Franklin famously wrote essays complaining that German immigrants were ‘swarthy’ and would never adopt English customs. Later, the Irish, Italians, and Slavic peoples were legally and socially excluded from being considered truly ‘white’ or ‘American.’ Today, we view them all as the American mainstream
“Why increase the sons of Africa, by planting them in America, where we have so fair an opportunity, by excluding all blacks and tawnys, of increasing the lovely white and red?”— Ben Franklin
“I advanced it, therefore, as a suspicion only, that the blacks, whether originally a distinct race, or made distinct by time or circumstances, are inferior to the whites in the endowments of both body and mind.”- Thomas Jefferson
“There is a physical difference between the white and the black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together... while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any man am in favor having the superior position assigned to the white race.”- Abraham Lincoln
