When one of our missionary friends stayed with us when he was on furlough from Liberia, he’d often have a flare-up of malaria. Dad had to see the druggist (they weren’t called pharmacists in our town in the ‘50s) for meds. IIRC, quinine.

That’s what they gave to my friend here in the hospital and he had a bad reaction to it. They had to fly in some heavy duty medicine from Atlanta..................
