I've noticed that user ransomnote ( https://freerepublic.com/tag/by:ransomnote/index?tab=comments;brevity=full;options=no-change ) publishes numerous X posts every day.
I work with AI every day, and it feels like maybe he's just set up an AI agent/bot to pull from X and share on FR throughout the day. Kinda weird.
I asked him about it in a comment, and he didn't reply.
I don't want to be the blog police. But I was curious if FReepers are OK that an increasing number of FR posts are simply shared from X. Or if we'd prefer that news articles from online publications are shared instead.
I've been here a while, so I figured I earned the right to ask the question.

Hammer down MOD! I’ve been watching.
"As for your obsession with the GOP Briefing Room you are a fool."
It doesn’t bother me. I rarely read them anyway, since I don’t subscribe to X or any other social media site. Mods allow people to post crap articles here, and regularly allow trolls to harass Freepers, failing to police them, stop their abuse, or permanently get rid of them. I ignore the articles they post, and the trolls too.
“I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. I have nothing to do with the “GOP Briefing Room”, and no other similar site to FR.”
It went right over your head didn’t it? You are always ACCUSING me about the GOPBR...
I don’t need it, Farcesensitive and I built our own over six years ago. Yet we both also participated here because we actually do also care about this place as fellow Conservative Domain owners. The conservative movement needs all the action it can get on the net. It is stupid to run away potential donators and participants the way you do. I have never seen anything like it in my life. Again... You are doing much more damage than good to this place...
Ransomnote is a Sheila, dressed up like a Sheila. Long-time poster, well respected and well known.
I have never personally criticized ransomnote
I’m simply asking if we want half of the posts we comment on here to be X. Maybe we don’t.
Cute.
Newby.
Knock it off.
OK, ransomnote is well respected. I never said she wasn’t.
I’m simply asking if we want FR to have more X posts than long-form news and opinion posts.
Those yelling the loudest appear to want short and quick X posts, rather than news articles that we can wrestle with.
Wow!
Three very impressive sentences.
“ Ransom is a national treasure.”
I agree and I always read her treasure posts.
If we were to have a debate about posting, I’d suggest framing what an acceptable - and to the contrary, ‘lazy’ - post excerpt looks like.
About half the posters have no idea how to execute a reasonable excerpt.
I’m happy about those posts. I don’t care if they’re posted by ransomnote or R2D2. They provide info that I appreciate.
Might want to count again.
I stopped posting articles on FR many, many years ago after Jim was sued over copyright laws. I decided I didn't want to take the chance of screwing anything up for him.
Tell you what... From Friday afternoon through the weekend until Monday there is very little out there to go gather up to post here because all the authors get off for the weekend. So you have to take whatever you can find to keep the place moving no matter where it comes from. Sunday is brutal for trying to find anything out there to post here.
Well, you sure were proud of yourself when YOU decided to tell all of us what YOU did.
Those yelling the loudest appear to want short and quick X posts, rather than news articles that we can wrestle with.
Ransomenote usually posts fairly long articles with her own excellent indepth analysis, and others respond with similar indepth analysis and opinions.
Some links do come from Twitter/X, and that is where most of the breaking news gets posted (540 to 610 million monthly active users globally).
I do understand that the basketball people don't have much interest in geopolitical discussions of any sort, and that's why we have network TV.
It’s just as bad with video posting from any of the sites. Some post transcripts. “Some.” Most don’t even offer a summary of what often turns out to be some clickbait monologue version of a basement podcast.
