Unrelated, but I recently saw a “Man-in-the-street” interview where the guy had a map of the world with no colors or place names. Just outlines of countries. He found a woman and pointed to a very small country just East of the Indian subcontinent. This little country had been colored red for the interview. Nothing was labeled (it was Bangladesh). The woman thought about it and guessed that the country was “Africa”.
I have also seen college students in Florida interviewed and asked to name the ocean which is visible off the coast of Florida. One student was baffled — “It doesn’t have a name. It’s just The Ocean.”
I have a deep suspicion of those “Man-in-the-street” interviews. Maybe they ask 100 people an easy question. 98 get right. And 2 don’t.
The two that get it wrong are the only ones in the video.
