Actor Harrison Ford told graduates at Arizona State University (ASU) to “extend social justice” to clean up the environmental “mess” his generation left behind for them.
The legendary “Star Wars” and “Indiana Jones” actor gave the commencement speech during a graduation ceremony on May 11, where he received an honorary Doctor of Arts and Humane Letters degree for his work in conservation.
Ford’s background in fighting climate change was a significant theme throughout the speech as he warned students about the need for “cultural change” to prevent “mass extinction” caused by corruption and global warming.
“Humanity is a part of nature, not above it,” Ford said. “We have an essential mandate to protect 30% of the world’s land and sea by 2030, to prevent the mass extinction, to slow the warming of our planet.
“Still, despite new science, new policies, we are still losing nature to profiteering, corruption, conflict — including land that is already protected on paper. These efforts matter, but they’re not enough.”
He continued, “We need cultural change. We need to extend social justice. We need to respect and elevate the Indigenous people that are being marginalized and, in many cases, killed in cold blood.
“These communities have long understood that the trees, the mountain, water, soil are not commodities. They are relatives to be cherished for following generations to embrace and protect.”
Ford encouraged graduates and members of their generation to go out and “change the world” after acknowledging that past generations, including his, left the world a mess.

Why do all these people who claim to be scientific materialists have all these “holy causes?”
I was in the aviation business and every year went to the Airventure convention in Osh Kosh and the Sun and fun expo show in Florida. Harrison Ford was always there as the spokesman for one of the aircraft organizations. He was always a particularly dull and boring man. He is a blank canvas when he is not acting.
Sheesh - what a moron.
It’s galling how many un-educated, ignorant celebrities believe they are experts on just about everything - and arrogantly purport to tell US how to live - while living lives of luxury themselves that most of us can only dream about -
Go fly your plane Harrison..IMC at night.😎
How's that work exactly.?
**Is he still landing on the taxiway?**
Back in the summer of 88 I saw a guy do that in his Piper Aerostar (a hot piston twin) at the uncontrolled airport at Galesburg, IL.
With the high overcast sky that day, and the grass a bit dull from dry weather, the gray runway asphalt didn’t stand out nearly as good as the recently repaved parallel taxiway. The guy simply didn’t fly the pattern, just flew a long final.
I was wrenching on a Cessna in the maintenance hangar, and saw the guy coming in, and could tell when he was a 1/4 mile from the pavement (”over the fence”) that he was lined up with the taxiway. He touched down, immediately passing by the groundskeeper, (GK), who was going the same direction on a cabless tractor pulling a 20’ mower.
GK stopped, just sitting there staring at plane rolling out. The right wing had barely missed him. He was making his second pass mowing along that taxiway. Had he have been making his first, it would have been bad for him and the pilot (who was the only occupant).
GK (retired Army) promptly drove to the ramp to ‘greet’ the pilot. I couldn’t hear the words, but could see the his head bobbing as he yelled at pilot, whose head was bowed during the tongue lashing. GK went into the FBO office and told them what happened. The pilot admitted he locked his eyes on the black taxiway, only looking away to scan for traffic.
“He is a blank canvas when he is not acting.”
Most of them are these days...empty vessel frauds. Didn’t use to be that way ...Wayne, Grant, Eastwood, Gable, Flynn, Cagney, Hope, McQueen, Marvin...
Go land on another taxi way you moron!
Golly, someone whose profession is built on make believe is revealed as believing and saying foolish things.
