I didn't insist that he *was*, I only said that what Hegseth was doing at the Gallrein event was explicitly forbidden by the Hatch Act (which is what you denied).

And he didn't do himself any favors, either:

So in other words, the lawyers took a look at the clear letter of the law and the DOJ's official policy and said "nah, he's cool".

You can look at the video of Hegseth at the event and pretend he wasn't being partisan in favor of Gallrein. But I guess because some Pentagon spokesperson said "nah, it's totally fine", that's all it takes, right? Who cares about the actual evidence of our lying eyes?
