BS. It’s a game and a diversion from reality.

The cost of the grass and it’s upkeep are a fraction of what Jerry is going to make in vendor sales, parking and the cut of the ticket prices.

FIFA is big money. 6 billion people are football fanatics regardless of what boomer Americans think it is the world sport. If Jerry makes less than ten million net per game it will be a shock he is set to make 100 million over the 9 games. That grass could be watered with bottled water and still be in the black. It’s a rounding error in the opex for the matches.

“It’s a game and a diversion from reality.”

We were born with imaginations. Aren’t they jumping-off points from reality? Imagining can be creative as well as a waste of time.

Damn right it’s a diversion from reality. The human brain REQUIRES diversions from reality to function. It’s why we dream. It’s why we tell stories. It’s why we make music. And yes it’s why we invent sports.

Jerry should keep the grass. It’s better for the athletes’ knees than turf. Rarely will I say an organization as corrupt as FIFA is right about anything. But in this case they are. All the sports should ban turf. The expense of grass is nothing compared to how much they pay guys to sit on the bench with preventable injuries. The cost of one star running back missing one game would pay for grass all year.
