The top baby names of 2025 have finally been revealed.
Olivia and Liam remain America’s most popular baby names for the seventh year, according to the Social Security Administration (SSA).
The new rankings marked Liam’s ninth consecutive year as the most popular name. Liam — an Irish form of William — first claimed the top spot in 2017 and has remained there ever since. Olivia, whose name derives from the Latin word for “olive tree,” joined Liam at No. 1 in 2019, ending Emma’s five-year streak as the most popular girls’ name.
Here’s how the top baby names stacked up, according to SSA’s latest data.

“Last year, America’s most popular baby names remained consistent with years past, with minimal shifts in the top 10 rankings. Charlotte climbed to second place among girls, ending Emma’s six-year run in the runner-up slot. A top-10 fixture for years, Ava dropped from the list entirely – replaced by Eliana, which debuted at number 10. On the boys’ side, the top four names – Liam, Noah, Oliver, and Theodore – held their places,” the SSA said.
The list comes as policymakers renew efforts to support mothers and families amid a plummeting, record-low birthrate.
On Mother’s Day, the White House launched a website to help expectant mothers locate pregnancy centers and learn about health and wellness, a move framed as a nod to the pro-life and “Make America Healthy Again” movements, The Daily Wire exclusively reported.
Moms.gov addresses “the needs of mothers and fathers who face difficult or unexpected pregnancies and [ensures] the wellbeing of mothers and the health of American families,” the White House said in a statement.
An expectant mother visiting the site can search for nearby pregnancy care centers or federally qualified health centers and quickly find the closest option. The website also features information on the Department of Health and Human Services’ new dietary guidelines, along with nutrition resources for expectant mothers and details on Trump Accounts and Trump RX offerings for those hoping to conceive.
America is not alone in falling birth rates. In England and Wales, the fertility rate fell to a record low of 1.41 in 2024, marking the third straight year of decline, according to The Independent. Across the pond, however, baby-name trends look a bit different, with Muhammad recently surpassing Noah as the most popular boys’ name.

That is an interesting observation,
My first name, Oliver, has made an incredible resurgence. I’m meeting young Olivers now. My son, a third (I wrote that out so nobody think it’s a hundred and eleven), hates the name and goes by a nickname.
My nephew’s name is Liam..but I hate the fact that Liam Nieson that commie prick and him share the same name :(
My sister loves naming her kids with the shortest names possible, Eli, Liam, and Mila(Who she calls MiMi why I dont know LOL)
I like the old names comeback.
Granddaughters are Matilda, Helena. Grandsons are Elijah, Ethan, Evan, James.
And 50% of the girls names end with an ia.
I’ve always been surprised that after Princess Diana died, more didn’t name their baby girls after her.
My Mom had a terrible labor with me - and this was back in the day when they just knocked you out. She was in labor for 40 hours and then I was a breach baby on top of it. She has never forgiven me, LOL!
While she was zonked out, Dad SAID he named me after Movie Star ‘Diana Lynn.’ Turns out he had an an old girlfriend named, ‘Diana’ and he really liked the name. That didn’t go over too well, but they never changed my name. ;)
True for three of my four children.
The most common female name combination in the USA is Maria Garcia.
Followed by Mary Smith.
Men, it’s James Smith, David Smith, and Mike Smith. Mike and David flip periodically.
😂 It’s spelled Theodore in the text below the list. Probably a typo.
