Car prowler Desaver Brian Hollis pays a fatal price after trying to kill police officers in Minnesota. Credit: Richfield Police Department, MN bodycam footage The family of a hardened criminal killed by police in Richfield, Minnesota, lashed out at police after bodycam footage showed exactly what happened.
As KMSP reported, Richfield police said that they responded to a report of a car prowler named Desaver Brian Hollis along the 7500 block of Morgan Avenue shortly before 3:30 a.m. on April 29. Officers later located Hollis a block away from the original scene on Oliver Avenue South.
The police attempted to confront and stop him, but Hollis took off. Sgt. Mario Leon allegedly attempted to apprehend Hollis while another officer, Sgt. Kristian Schultz used his Taser, striking Hollis from a distance.
The officers then went to the ground with the perp, and a fight ensued. Officers said that Hollis next pulled out a gun and shot Sgt. Leon in the hand.
Sgt. Leon and Sgt. Schultz fired back in self-defense, killing Hollis in the process.
On May 4, the Hollis family and their legal representatives accused the police of a cover-up and demanded body camera footage, police vehicle videos, and 911 calls regarding the incident.
“To just say a weapon was brandished and gunfire was exchanged leaves a lot to question,” said Nikki Holiday, a legal liaison for Hollis’ family.
“A life was lost. Let’s get to the facts before we just put these narratives out there and start smearing the victim,” she added.
On Sunday, the family of Hollis announced they had hired a national civil rights law firm to shake down the City of Richfield and the Minnesota BCA. But they were in for a surprise just one day later.
Richfield police released bodycam footage on Monday of the entire Desaver Hollis incident. It confirms the story the cops were telling all along.

Most likely those cops will end up like the George Floyd Arrestors. I would never sign up to be a cop today. The citizens are out to destroy you. Let the citizens defend themselves with their own g-d damn guns. Just sayin...
I can’t imagine how hard it is to be a cop today, almost a thankless job.
I’m with you. We’ve just got to do something with the asskissin’ sanctuary local yokel donut boyz. Stick to defending your illegal alien badbunny boyz and keep your noses out of OUR BUSINESS of defending ourselves and our families.
Click. Yup.
Headline sounds backwards. The family lashed out, then the police released the bodycam footage.
I carry to protect myself and my loved ones.
I am also grateful for those who work in public safety and I support them.
Since you don’t want to be a cop I am happy that you aren’t one.
Just sayin’.
That criminal needed hanged long ago! Nothing but a predator on society.
body cams were the best thing to ever happen to cops in my opinion.
I always knew cops were telling the truth 99% of the time. And the body cam footage usually proves me right.
“To just say a weapon was brandished and gunfire was exchanged leaves a lot to question,”
Not really.
Body cams are once again dashing BLM dreams of violence, false news narratives ,and big lawsuits
Thanks Black Lives Matter for forcing them on police! The video footage has been immensely entertaining!
Thankfully the officers were not seriously injured. No sympathy for the criminal.
That was a Pretti Good outcome.
At least we do not have to ask Yogi about this one.
[Thankfully the officers were not seriously injured. No sympathy for the criminal.]
And another aspiring rapper and pre-med college freshman in the fall gets hunted down by the cops. < /S>
Cop was really lucky his body armor stopped the bullet from worse damage.
