Barry Bonds has come company in the record books:
A’s first baseman Nick Kurtz.
The Giants’ legendary slugger set numerous marks that still stand on his way to becoming the sports’ all-time home run king. One of them fell Thursday, in a Triple-A ballpark, no less.
Kurtz, 23, surpassed Bonds’ modern-day record when Royals reliever John Schreiber intentionally put him on base in his last plate appearance of the A’s 6-3 win Thursday at their temporary home in Sacramento. It was his 19th consecutive game with a base on balls. Few other hitters had come close since Bonds ended the 2002 season with walks in all of his final 18 games.

And after the sale was all done neighbors started throwing bricks through their windows in 1959. After living there for about a year and a half, the couple moved back to New York City and only rented homes in San Francisco during the season.
Bonds received threats while in pursuit of Ruth’s records. He also didn’t live in the city and owned a home in San Mateo County around 50 miles from the city.

Barry Bonds has no records. He cheated. He was a freak that deserves to die in obscurity.
They walked Bonds because they disrespected him. They did not want to give him an at bat. And by that time he had become a horrible base runner.

Babe Ruth will always be the home run king. People forget The Babe spent his first 6 years pitching and only played every 4th to 5th game. NY noticed when he did get to pitch he hit homers.
His “HR per at bat” percentage will not ever be touched.

Because Ruth started as a pitcher, he wasn’t coached to make contact. He swung hard and was successful doing so. Pitching may have indirectly helped his hitting.
Ruth was the first to put a knob at the end of the bat. Helped him get more leverage.
Not a good basestealer. 51% success rate for his career, slightly better than teammate Gehrig’s 50%. Both probably hurt by unsuccessful hit-and-runs. Ruth ended a World Series with a caught stealing. IIRC, Gehrig wasn’t next in the order that game, so Ruth thought it was important to get into scoring position.
