I’m not up on these things; I know about herbs but very little about Rx drugs. My husband was diagnosed as “pre-diabetic (type 2 of course) and he takes herbs (not even every day!) and it’s much reduced. Diet and the right herbs, appropriate excericise and supplements can take care of many conditions.

Good for your husband. Diet and an active lifestyle are a good recipe.

You hit on another gimmick that big med/big pharma plays, i.e. diagnosing someone as pre-diabetic. You either have diabetes or you don’t. They tried that with my father and his blood sugar stayed normal.

Also they have changed the acceptable blood sugar range for diagnosing diabetes or high blood sugar. Back in the early ‘00s the range for normal blood sugar levels was 90-120 mg/dL. Now it is 60-99 with 60 being borderline too low. I asked my PCP about this change and he said that when he was in medical school the range was <150. Big med in tandem with big pharma keeps changing what is ‘acceptable’ and what isn’t, with their ‘solution’ being a script.
