“a sign that the nation’s economy remains solid.”

Yet why all the pissing, moaning and groaning about this “horrible economy”? What causes that?

I see “Help Wanted” and “Hiring” signs everywhere. Companies cannot find good, hard-working people.

Because it hasn't translated into lower prices and higher wages. It's hard to feel positive about AI datacenters being built when it costs more to fill up your car and your utilities are going up.

You seem completely detached from reality, or maybe it’s all about, “I got mine, what’s the problem?”

Everything has nearly *doubled* in 6 years yet some people like you are unable to see any problem. Get real.

Companies cannot find good, hard-working people.

Companies are still offering absurdly low salaries or have ridiculous job requirements, unrelated to actual needs of the work. That will change, but the realization has yet to set in. Low-end or entry level jobs are still not paying well enough to be worth commuting any distance to perform. They are going unfilled, as you might expect.

In some fields, there are ongoing, large-scale layoffs which are dumping tens of thousands of experienced and senior level people into the "job market". That makes it hard for them to find a new job quickly, and they won't find one that pays as well as their previous job. It sucks to be them.

So yes, there is lots of pissing, moaning and groaning about this “horrible economy”. It is a lagging indicator which will continue for a while even after things do get better.

Companies cannot find good, hard-working people willing to work for the wages being offered.

Fixed

It’s because these GDP reports don’t tell the most important part of the story.

2% GDP growth is a disaster for the U.S. right now. Here’s why:

The U.S. government is basically borrowing $2 trillion this year, and generating $600 billion in GDP growth. There is no scenario on God’s green earth where that can be painted in a positive light.

“Companies cannot find good, hard-working people.”

1) The HR departments are staffed with college grads who took gender studies and similar “soft” subjects. They cannot handle hard facts.

2) HR can’t make decisions and delegates to “recruiters”. I have dozens of recruiters email me every day. When on the phone, the delays in the conversation tells me the call is from far-away.

3) The Recruiting business has too many layers of referrals by middle-men. Recruiter A knows the job seeker. Recruiter Z knows the company. Recruiters B thru Y connect A to Z.

4) AI in India will fix this.

**********************

It won’t get any better for companies over the next 20 years, because the labor supply is going to tighten substantially during that time period.(The globe is getting old.)

The markets are currently saturated with redundant businesses, providing the same services, selling the same goods, & many thinking there is an unlimited labor supply like in the boomer era. “There Isn’t.”

Many will fail in the new reality, but smart producers won’t fail and will provide the economic growth that future generations need.
