“The Best Country and Western Song.”

I’ve got a Steve Goodman live album around here somewhere. He was prolific and very funny. He and John Prine must have been a hoot together. All three, Goodman, Prine and Coe are now gone. The late 60s was an amazing time for songwriting.

I saw Prine and Goodman together in a small bar on the northwest side of Chicago sometime in the 80s.

Amazing.

Back in the 90’s some friends took us to a Honky Tonk south of Atlanta that played loud country music. The place was packed and it was like the crowd was waiting on the perfect Country and Western song, You Never Even Call Me By My Name. They went wild and everyone in there sang along. I'll never forger it.
