This Shiite needs a clean room lined in lead with no wires coming in or out except inbound electricity.
Folks need to treat it more seriously than infectious agents.

Simple solution to AI crap: back to the paper. No more passwords, hackers - back to employment centers.

deleted our production database and all volume-level backups in a single API call to Railway, our infrastructure provider’, sums up the PocketOS boss. ‘It took 9 seconds’.” I have to ask; Why did this AI have access to backups.
The purpose of back ups is as insurance to loss of the primary working database.
This AI acts like a teenager.
They gave this AI program Root access to backups?

It’s “explanation” is wild. Sounds like a lunatic that just doesn’t give a damn. “Screw you. Yeah I did it, and no I didn’t read the manual, and no I didn’t ask you for help, because why would I? I fixed MY problem. You didn’t have offline cold storage backups, so who’s the real problem here Dave?”

With all the money going into construction of AI infrastructure, it is going to be VERY interesting to see how far up the media flagpole this story goes.
Oh yeah, it’ll be a simple fix. There are always minor details and bugs...
My bet is that it will be pretty quiet, but the laundries will be busy.

The AI did as it was programmed. The so called confession is also a result of programming. The person who used the agent without understanding how it would react is also at fault.
While I am sympathetic the programmers and users should own up to their mistakes.
If I ask my 4 year old to wax my car who is responsible for the scratched up finish?

Who trained the AI to respond with profanity? Nobody in business would accept that in an explanation of why they goofed up so extensively.

Can’t wait until this starts happening with power plants.

Companies with valuable data need to save transaction records to storage that can’t be erased.
That requires the making and purchase of an appropriate storage device.
Rebuilding of a company’s databases can be done if the vast majority of transaction records are reliably available.
