We have at least a dozen certified one mile shooters at our club. That’s two shots on a man sized target at one mile in front of 2 witnesses. There are even more who are certified 1,000 yard shooters.
I’m working on joining their ranks right now.

Yeah, at the rifle range, I am one of the worst. I embarrass myself.
But here’s another weird fact of being me:
To train for a Griz encounter, I load up my day pack, strap a .357 Ruger Blackhawk in my chest rig, go for a run around the parking lot until winded, run up to the line (I’m alone on the handgun range, my buddy rangemaster is over on the rifle range) spin three times until dizzy and breathless, and hit 4 / 6 on 7” steel at 25 yards as fast as I can pull the hammer. That took some practice, but I run into Griz every single time I go to Glacier. I’m kinda ready next time.
