Well done ;-) Bravo!
Hell, I was born in ‘70. I’m solid Gen-X. We’ve always been “there is no backup, we are everyone else’s backup” mentality. There’s no one coming to save us, we are the ones doing the saving.
I started on C-64 in 1983. I volunteered for the US Navy at 17.
Kudsman post in #5 is pretty accurate too.
We were wandering the 40 acre fields, eating berries off the bush, building dugout hideouts to party with our friends, playing baseball, street football, Lawn Darts, catching jars of fireflies as a “flashlight”.
We hopped on our bikes and went 3, 5, 10 blocks (or more) to visit our friends to see what’s going on - pick up games of basketball in someone’s driveway. Heck, even my dad would play (6’4”, former DE in high school/college).
Riding in the back of pick ups, hay rides, actually using an outhouse. Facing backward in the back of the station wagon.
