The odd thing about the Bee Gees is that they were a full on 60s music success, and then a full on disco music success, they really cut their own path and had loads of talent.
It wa so crazy and fun. Imagination abounded back then! So you were one of ‘em. 😁 The fun guys.
I was always so impressed with their perfect harmony. Almost like it came from one voice. They did full on well into the 80’s. The Bee Gees were fun.
Disco became a thing in the 70’s, I believe, because it was a fun bright spot in the dismal Carter years. It was flashy, wild, and energetic. The clothes were kooky too back then.
Hell, I was born in ‘70. I’m solid Gen-X. We’ve always been “there is no backup, we are everyone else’s backup” mentality. There’s no one coming to save us, we are the ones doing the saving.
I started on C-64 in 1983. I volunteered for the US Navy at 17.
Kudsman post in #5 is pretty accurate too.
We were wandering the 40 acre fields, eating berries off the bush, building dugout hideouts to party with our friends, playing baseball, street football, Lawn Darts, catching jars of fireflies as a “flashlight”.
We hopped on our bikes and went 3, 5, 10 blocks (or more) to visit our friends to see what’s going on - pick up games of basketball in someone’s driveway. Heck, even my dad would play (6’4”, former DE in high school/college).
Riding in the back of pick ups, hay rides, actually using an outhouse. Facing backward in the back of the station wagon.
