On Monday, Florida changed its state welfare policy to exclude junk food from being purchased with SNAP funds.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is meant to help needy people buy food by using tax money to give them supplemental nutrition.
The state of Florida is not telling residents that they can't buy soda and ice cream with their own money. It's telling them they can't use money taken from other Floridians to buy those items. You are free to be morbidly obese on your own dime.

Among the thirteen per centers there is diversity.

But I predict it won’t be long before some will be demanding that Medicaid pay for Ozempic so they can be like Serena.

Welfare is where I might get on board with Mandami government stores.
They sell staples: milk, bread, butter, cheese, eggs, flour, salt and pepper, rice, potatoes; frozen carrots, peas, and broccoli; canned fish, canned meat, canned chicken; bananas and apples.
All packaged plainly with a “welfare food for poor” label.
Bright orange plastic shopping bags labeled “welfare food”.
The fat cow hasn’t heard that “beggars can’t be choosers”, after all she’s an entitled welfare queen.
What’s missed here is that the government exercises control over two groups of people but in different ways.
It’s not important that one group is no longer able to buy ice cream or soda.
What is important is that the government “seizes” the money of one group and uses it to control the behavior of another group.
Both groups are “controlled” by the “government!”
You are correct. 60’s-70’s and probably 80’s candy etc were not available with food stamps. It would be interesting to find out when that changed??
