Lena Dunham is walking back her support for former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election.
Dunham’s new memoir, Famesick, hit stands on April 14, and in her own words, she reflects on campaigning for Clinton.
“I hit the ground running just a day or so after Girls wrapped, campaigning for Hillary Clinton in more American states than I’d ever been to in my life,” she writes in the book, according to the Daily Mail.
“And now I know, I wish I’d just posted a ‘BERNIE’ sign in my window instead,” she explained, referring to former Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.
Elsewhere in the book, the former Girls star said she regrets how much time she spent supporting Bill Clinton’s wife’s political aspirations.
“I had campaigned for Hillary Clinton, and literally all I got was this lousy T-shirt,” she reportedly wrote in the tell-all. It is unclear why she has changed her stance.
(snip)Dunham spoke out about Clinton’s defeat in an essay published in Time magazine.
“It wasn’t supposed to go this way. It was supposed to be her job. She worked her whole life for the job. It’s her job,” wrote Dunham, according to the outlet.
She also described feeling “frozen” after Trump’s victory.
Dunham also discussed the revelation that the 2016 election saw an increase of women voters supporting Trump. “It’s painful to know that white women, so unable to see the unity of female identity, so unable to look past their violent privilege, and so inoculated with hate for themselves, showed up to the polls for him, too,” she wrote in 2016, according to Time.
Dunham notoriously had said she would be moving out of the country if Trump won the presidential seat. Two weeks after his victory, she changed her mind.

Dunham is an easy target for mockery for a variety of reasons, many well deserved. She’s a classic bubble liberal who thinks the world should know her opinions. She’s an adherent to modern radical feminism, meaning that she thought (at least for a while) that the world should see her naked body as a political statement. People mock her weight gain, which I don’t think is fair. Its amusing that she’s back-pedaling on the Clinton support. That was all the rage among feminists but in retrospect, even they see what a grasping, money-grubbing, amoral, pre-programed, poll-driven tool Hillary was and is. So now they want it known that they would have supported Sanders, the rich old white guy limousine Socialist. That’s just as amusing. I was ready to completely write Dunham off and move on but a podcaster who I like made the argument that Dunham has actually settled into a mid-life, suburban, much more pedestrian life. And despite what she says, her life is not that radical and that she’s the embodiment of the liberal becoming more moderate as they become middle-aged. I’m willing to keep an open mind on her. Maybe in 10 years she’ll be voting Republican. LOL.

It is interesting that the media thinks this is important. I wonder why this comes out now? The old democrats and the progressive issue we have seen of late?
Is she the Lena in the Ole and Lena jokes so common in the upper midwest where I grew up?

1. She wrote a book that needs to sell. 2. Since she wrote the book that needs to sell either the publicist she’s paying or the marketing team from the publisher is working hard to get her interviews so people, especially those that might buy it, will know she has a book out that they could buy.
I’m not going to read her screed, but I hope for her sake that she stipulated that she is NOT suicidal somewhere in the text.
The fact that anyone would change the mind and vote for Hillary Clinton based on Lena Dunham campaigning for her is insane to say the least.
