Dick Morris has finally confirmed what many people have long suspected: Bill Clinton, while sitting in the Oval Office, seriously entertained the idea of divorcing Hillary — and he had his longtime political advisor run the polls to find out if he could survive it politically.
Morris, who advised Clinton for years, as far back as his 1970s gubernatorial campaigns in Arkansas, appeared on Newsmax and dropped a bombshell that has somehow received far too little attention.
When host Rob Finnerty asked Morris to confirm the rumor, the answer was blunt.
"Yes, actually several times," Morris said. "It was a constant topic of conversation between then-President Clinton and myself, and the storminess of the Clinton marriage made that relevant."
It was actually four or five times, by Morris's count. The man wasn't merely curious; he kept returning to the question.
Morris said the first time was the most consequential,(snip)
This was all happening before the 1996 re-election campaign against Bob Dole, so Clinton was genuinely weighing whether to cut Hillary loose before asking the American public to give him a second term. All while Paula Jones was in the picture, Gennifer Flowers had already gone public with her claims of a 12-year affair (which Clinton eventually admitted to), and Monica Lewinsky was waiting in the wings.
But here's where it gets even more interesting. When Finnerty suggested Clinton was considering divorcing Hillary, Morris pumped the brakes on that framing.
"I'm not sure that would be divorcing Hillary," he said. "The issue — it was in part Hillary divorcing him."
I’m sure it was mutual, to be honest.

The irony if he did divorce her, she may be President today.
But by her staying with him...his scandals were also associated with her.

The prospect of mutual assured destruction in a contested divorce proceeding would no doubt prompt the Clintons to work out a comprehensive settlement before a petition for divorce was filed. The result would be a flurry of new stories about the Clintons’ accomplishment of an amicable divorce.
Toe sucker say what?
For a swinging couple, why bother with a divorce? Just stay away from each other .
I beleive that spousal immunity applies to the period prior to the end of the marriage, even if the couple are estranged. An ex-spouse can be compelled to testify about events after the end of the marriage. And immunity only applies to compunction to testify, a spouse is a competent witness if he or she testifies volunarily. Also, if a marriage is invalid, if entered into in good faith, immunity still applies.
In her circles, if you DO NOT divorce, you’re looked at as a TOTAL FAILURE. So it was Skunk Cabbage’s LUST FOR POWER and only that which kept her (technically) married to Bill...that was it.
Never underestimate the effect the Jesuits had on anything or anyone.

Misleading. Clinton didn’t run for Ark governor until 1978. Morris was not there.
Then Clinton lost in 1980. Reagan effect, Vietnamese refugees put in western Ark (I no problem with that, nice hard workers. We sponsored and housed many) and his lies about raising taxes ( he quadrupled driver license fees and lied by saying a fee wasn’t a rax). And Hillary was hated.
That’s when the hired Morris and he won in 1982. Hillary “got” pregnant, got rid tge the coke bottle glasses and held umbrellas over Bill to look more likeable.
