Drunk does pay, I guess.
Just more lawsuit madness.
Carnival.... hmmm....
Anyone want to guess the complexion of the litigant?
Having had alcoholic relatives, seeing a middle-aged woman who does 12 tequila shots to get falling-down drunk - I’m gonna bet its not the first time she’s been in such a state.
I’d even bet it wasn’t even the first time that week.....
Jimmy Buffett might sing, “Why Don’t We Get Drunk and Sue”.
Umm, I wonder if anyone in the Defense asked: how do we know that anyone OK with a dozen shots doesn’t already have brain damage?
You have to know that you’re buying a lot of alcohol, when the airline sells it to you in those little bottles.
She had to be aware of it. If she is an alcoholic or one of those people who is overly sensitive to alcohol, she had to already know that as well. That award should be reduced by her own share of the responsibility. Maybe 30% less.

A California nurse won a $300,000 lawsuit against Carnival Corporation after claiming bar staff for the cruise giant overserved her tequila — causing her to fall and severely injure herself, according to reports.
The verdict found Carnival was 60% at fault for the incident, and Sanders was 40% at fault.
$300,000, is that her net take after the lawyers or the pre lawyer amount ?
At any rate , she ‘ll have spent whatever it is soon if not already.
I would think the ship would sail under a foreign flag and that she could only sue in Panama, Liberia or like place.
When one bartender in a bar over serves someone, there is the assumption that he/she knew this was the same customer who was drinking too much. The environment on a cruise ship is so different...there are multiple bars, and lots of people coming and going. I would have to know that one single bartender served all those shots to blame the cruise line.
More nannystate crappola
In approximately 8.5 hours this woman drank almost 1.65 shots per hour. That’s not a huge amount of alcohol if it was spaced out like that. Now if she ate nothing for those 8.5 hours, yeah she’d be tipsy. But apparently she has zip zero nada responsibility to look after her best interests. And where were her traveling companions?? Not many women take solo carnival cruises unless drinking, twerking and hooking up with the trash is what they’re really looking for.
According to the article she had been boozing at the bar from 2 PM to 11PM. Sound like she set up house at the bar and she had been there longer than a bartenders shift. She’s responsible for her own intake over the 9 hour period. She should have signed up for the babysitter package for someone to watch her.
Just another drunk ruining it for the rest of us drunks.
and the woman had no responsibility? did some one puour the drinks into her or did she willingly drink them?
If it’s up to bars to cut people off, just incase they make choices that hurt themself, then those people should never be allowed a drink again.
I don’t suppose she was responsible?
The truth is that it’s all in picking the right jury, and if the plaintiff’s attorney does their job well, this is the sort of nonsense we can expect.
If she got the individual shots of tequila from different servers at different bars, between 3pm and 11:30pm (over 8 1/2 hours) how would Carnival have known how many she had, and in particular how many in a time frame closest to her fall. Surely someone drinking four shots of Tequila between 3pm and 5pm would have “recovered” from them before 11:30pm, unless what she did was “bar hop” around the different bars on the ship the whole time - which is what I believe she was doing.
