“Juicing the economy” effectively reduces the debt.

We are going to cut our way out of it. We are going to have to grow and cut our way out.

“She came storming up to my desk and told me I couldn’t
claim 13 dependents.”

Just how many kids do you have now?

does that mean a big tax cut is coming? or is Trump desperate to help in the mid terms either way its curious

That was already done last year. I was quite thankful for it - my refund is much larger than the previous year.

We did that years ago. Our desire is to only pay the taxes owed, not to overpay and get our own money back that the government has been using all year for free.

We typically end up owing the feds a small amount and getting a small refund from the state. This year ended up within about $200.

Bessent gives very wise advice.

One year, two or three of our kids moved out and we forgot to change the withholdings. The next year, with no dependents, we ended up stroking out a $5000 check. Lesson learned.

In truth many people use over withholding like a savings account because it is hard to be disciplined enough to put money away every month. I admit to using the $3,400 tax refund back in 1987 as a down payment to purchase a townhouse after moving to Atlanta and living in an Apartment for 18 months. It was a great investment.

When I started my own business a few years later I started taking a minimal salary to avoid taxes and SS. Most of my income was interest and dividends. I never got another tax refund again.

“Does that mean a big tax cut is coming?”

Im pretty sure Trump plans to get rid of most income tax by the end of his term.

Rearranging your taxes without cutting them.

Just another misleading diversion.

Haven’t paid taxes since 97.

I'd keep that under my hat if I were you.

State taxes are mandatory. Not a problem, it’s rent for the state I enjoy and if I don’t like that state there are 49 more to choose from.

My company pays business taxes and sales taxes. They closed that loop pretty well. I pay property taxes and everything else.

But federal taxes... There is a deep rabbit hole to go down there.

When Trump hands services back to the states that’s how is supposed to work. The federal government should only be spending our money on our military because while it would be cheap and funny, the Arkansas State armed forces may not be up to the task.

I wasn’t arguing with you. I was just pointing out that the feral government can do anything they want to you and good luck fighting them once you’re on their radar.

That is true. Bravery comes at a cost.

Now that abortion is out of the federal context I’ve been thinking of rejoining the fray. I am finally staying to take pride in what our government is doing and what direction is going in
