Agreed. And unfortunately Jay Leno was part of creating the monster. Back in Leno's heyday, Leno and the other late night comedians weren't nearly as political as the ones now. In fact, Leno made fun of Democrat leaders (i.e. Bill Clinton) as much as he did Republicans (i.e. Bush), especially with Clinton's infidelity (which Leno later referred to as comedy gold material).

But if you recall, Leno often poked fun at Republican policies and ideas, but not Democrat ideas. That was more subtle, and perhaps more effective, than current late night comedians obtusely poking fun at all things Republican and cheering all things Democrat. Leno was way more popular than today's late night comedians. Combine Leno's popularity with his subtle shifting his audience to accepting Democrat ideas, and us conservatives probably don't recognize how much Leno worked against us.

Little by little they seem to be moving that way. I have a classic car insured by State Farm. This year they dropped towing from coverage on all classic cars.
