Democratic Representative Eric Swalwell’s bid for California governor continues to be plagued by an exodus of staffers and supporters, following a series of sexual misconduct allegations against the congressman.
Since the allegations first emerged this week, multiple campaign aides have resigned and nearly every endorsement has been rescinded, with several leading Democratic figures calling for him to drop out of the race.
Swalwell has called the allegations against him “flat false,” and alleged that these were timed to disrupt his campaign.
Newsweek contacted the campaign via email outside of regular working hours for comment.
Why It Matters
Before the allegations against Swalwell came to light, weeks before ballots were set to reach voters, the East Bay congressman was among the front-runners in the wide-open race to replace the term-limited Governor Gavin Newsom.
What To Know
The campaign’s troubles follow reporting from the San Francisco Chronicle that an unidentified former staffer accused Swalwell of having sexual encounters with her while she worked for him and of sexually assaulting her twice when she was too intoxicated to consent.

That’s why they’re getting rid of Swallwell, they don’t want a crowded field of democrats. It just so happened, that even though Fartypants was leading the rest of the dems, he is conveniently easy to get rid of because of his low hanging sexual peccadillo’s. I also wonder if big bucks Steyer had anything thing to do with all this coming to the surface now?
Some thought it could be his wife in the video. The 2nd dude that is mostly out of frame grabs the Ho’s a$$. Though I imagine for a creep like Swalloswell that might be acceptable even had it been his wife.

Steyer is strangely silent. He was running ads this last week or two ripping Swallowswell for being absent for like 80% of congressional votes. It includes a clip of Swallowswell in some gym pumping iron and looking at the camera and says “I should be at work” The dumb $hit set himself good with that one.
Nothing from Piggy Porter as well, though no doubt she is on her couch glued to C-Span with a bucket of triple buttered popcorn watching this implosion with squealing glee.
No matter what or how this happened I’m very happy to see Fartsmell’s chances wrecked and I hope he is out of politics for good very soon.
