There are cases where divorce is justified, such as serial adultery or abuse. I know women who ended up in the hospital from the beatings their husbands gave them. No one should be trapped in a marriage like that.
Of course, if the justice system dealt appropriately with spouses who inflicted that kind of harm on their spouse, then the women wouldn’t be in that kind of danger.
This is why I wrote The same mindset that says “I’m against divorce except for cases of ____” is the same demonic mindset that says “I’m against abortion except in cases of _____.”
Jesus gave us pretty clear instructions on this matter. People have expanded Jesus’ Word way beyond what is permissible.
As such, when divorce comes up, the pro-divorce lot adopt the abortion trick and ask about divorce-equivalent of incest and rape.
For the record, any man who beats a woman is not a man.
There are too many true crime incidents of women being murdered by their serially abusive husbands or boyfriends. The murders most often are committed at the time the woman actually leaves, and/or takes out a TRO on him.
The Restraining Order, instead of fulfilling its intended purpose, is the trigger for him to go next-level.
